Cambodian Harvest Dried Fruit Co. Ltd, is registered as a company with the Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia. It is also a project of Australian Relief & Mercy Services Ltd. The company is supported by donations from people in Australia who are concerned about the plight of Land Mine accident survivors.
Our factory employs many land mine incident survivors, who have been trained to process very high quality Cambodian dried fruit and to produce wholesome jam and pickles. These products are sold under our brand name, Cambodian Harvest.
"Cambodian Harvest gives employees quality of life, job security and hope for the future, as well as financial security for themselves and their families."
In the near future, a large new factory will be built in Kandal Province, 15 kilometres from Phnom Penh. This factory will be built and specially adapted for land mine disabled employees and it will employ at least 100 land mine survivors.
The new factory will be environmentally friendly, using fruit and natural organic fertiliser to manufacture cooking gas and compost. Biological fuel will be used by the generator to provide electricity for the air conditioners and dehydrators. Solar energy will be used for lighting.
Cambodian Harvest's aim is to demonstrate to the world and themselves the valuable contribution that disabled people can make to the economy of Cambodia and also to provide new markets for Cambodian fruit growers. The factory will be a shining example of the participation of people with disability and should help reduce discrimination in society.
History of project
Our factory opened in October 2004 and trained land mine disabled people in hygiene, production, administration and marketing.
All staff learn English and accommodation is provided for four single ladies and one child.
The concept set out in the vision of Cambodian Harvest has already achieved a high level of performance in the production of superior products, poverty alleviation, job security and has restored self esteem in a number of land mine survivors.
